Young people with youth care and youth care pathways in kind; districts, 2022
Description
This table provides figures on the number of young people who received youth care in kind (youth support in kind, youth protection and/or youth probation) in 2022 and the number of pathways in which this youth care was provided in kind. The data on young people are broken down by age and household composition on 1 January of the year in question. The youth care trajectories in kind are divided by referrer. The data is also broken down by municipality and district.
The classification by municipality and district is based on the address according to the principle of residence youth. If the address has changed during the reporting period, the young person is assigned the most recent address in this table.
The addition of the number of young people across multiple forms of youth care within a (sub)total can be greater than the (sub)total itself. A young person can have multiple trajectories with different forms of youth care, but with each form of care or (sub)total, a young person only counts once.
For some young people, only the municipality according to the residence principle is known, but not the specific address. In these cases, the young person is included in the total for the municipality, but not in one of the underlying districts. As a result, it is possible that the figures of the districts within a municipality do not add up to the total of the municipality.

Amendments as at 31 October 2024:
- The previously published final results for 2022 have been revised, as have those for 2021. There are two reasons for this.
On the one hand, two errors were detected and corrected in the processing of the submitted data:
In cases where several pathways had been started in the reporting period with the same young person, some pathways were wrongly not considered as repeated professions in both youth assistance, youth protection and youth probation.
A relatively large number of youth care programmes that were most likely terminated were wrongly not included in the number of completed youth care programmes. This concerned trajectories that were delivered to CBS without an end date, but were no longer included in the subsequent delivery to CBS six months later.
On the other hand, some improvements have been made to the processing of the submitted data:
From now on, the duration of youth support programmes (both the average duration and the duration in categories) will only be calculated on the basis of the programmes delivered with an end date. The journeys that were delivered without an end date, but presumably ended because they no longer appear in the subsequent delivery six months later, are no longer counted in calculations of the duration of journeys. After all, it is only known that the trajectory is likely to have ended, but the exact end date is not known.
When merging youth support programs of the same young person, with the same youth support provider and with the same form of help, more programs are merged than before. Previously, routes were merged if they overlapped in time or if there was a maximum of 1 day between the end date of one route and the start date of the other. The limit of a maximum of 1 day has been increased to a maximum of 30 days.
In addition, small improvements have been made in various steps of the processing, which lead to limited changes in the number of unique young people with youth assistance.
These corrections and improvements were not made for older years (2015 to 2020), due to the already existing trend break in the figures between 2020 and 2021.
