Mopeds active; number (per 1000 inhabitants), vehicle, region, 1 January
Description
This table contains data on the possession of the number of active mopeds, mopeds and mopeds with a Dutch registration according to the stand on 1 January from 2019. The table excludes all other vehicles with a Dutch moped registration, such as moped quads, cargo mopeds and 3-wheel mopeds.
The data are based on information from the Basic Registration Vehicles (BRV) or better known as the vehicle registration register of the RDW. Registration for these vehicles has been mandatory since 1 September 2005. Of all Dutch moped vehicles, the technical data of the vehicle and the personal data of the owner/holder are recorded. With the help of this registration, counts were made of signed Dutch vehicles with a moped registration on 1 January, which were allowed to take part in traffic on public roads during the previous year. These counts are broken down by characteristics of the vehicle (type) and by characteristics of the owner (municipality).
Vehicles which have not been insured throughout the previous year and are therefore not allowed to drive are excluded. Also vehicles that are in stock on 1 January are not included.
In this table, the speed pedelecs are not listed separately as a category, but are partly included in the mopeds and partly in the mopeds. In the tailor-made table “Type moped vehicles incl. speed pedelecs, 2019-2022”, the speed pedelecs are listed as a separate category.
