Environmental Ordinance, Waterlogging Standards
Description
The provincial policy for regional flooding is aimed at ensuring protection against flooding and providing insight into risks. The Environmental Ordinance includes province-wide areas with standards for flooding. This is the highest permissible risk of flooding from surface waters. Linked to this are rules with a best efforts obligation for the Water Authority to meet these standards. This implements the policy in the Regional Water and Soil Programme (RWP). The areas are regularly updated, partly as a result of adjustments to other layers in the regulation such as Urban Area, Water Storage or Nature Network Brabant. The other land use then leads to a different standard.
The areas can also be adjusted at the request of a water board, for example if a review shows that the water system deviates from the flooding standard.
