Emissions to water, origin and destination; national accounts 1995-2012
Description
This table provides information on the origin and destination of emissions to water of fertilising substances (nutrients) and heavy metals. These data are part of the environmental accounts. The origin of emissions by water can be subdivided into Dutch economy (disaggregated by private households and industries) and abroad. The destination can be divided into absorption by producers, disposal abroad and contribution to the environmental problem. The figures in this table can be compared in a consistent manner with macroeconomic indicators. In addition, indicators for emissions from heavy metals to water and the fertilisation of surface water can be derived from the water emission accounts. These indicators can be used to support water policy.

Status of the figures:
In order to achieve consistent and coherent time series, the full time series are (re)calculated. The latest insights, in particular those relating to emission factors, are taken into account in the calculations.

This table replaces a similar table with figures up to 2010 with figures for the years 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010 as well as figures for the intervening years (see paragraph 3. Links to relevant tables and articles).
When will there be new figures?
The new figures will be available biennially in October in the same years. The next publication will be in October 2016.
