Waste balance, type of waste by sector; national accounts, 2008-2012
Description
This table contains figures on the amount of waste that is released (origin) and where it goes (destination). Based on this, the flows of different wastes can be tracked. The origin of the amount of waste in households, different business classes and imports is presented. At the destination of waste, a distinction is made between treatment methods (re-use, incineration and landfilling/loosing) and export.
The waste balance is the result of the waste accounts drawn up in the context of the environmental accounts of CBS. The environmental accounts quantify the relationship between the economy and the environment. In order to achieve a consistent statistical description of this relationship, the environmental accounts shall be consistent with the classifications and definitions of the national accounts. As a result, environmental figures from the environmental accounts differ in a number of cases from the environmental figures elsewhere on CBS website.
