Description

This table contains figures on the number of national monuments of national significance in the Netherlands on 31 December of the year in question for the years 1965-2021. Monuments protected by municipalities and provinces are not included in this table. The figures in this table are compiled by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands. The regional classification for all years is based on the municipal classification of 1 January 2022. The figures are not only broken down by type of monument, but also by district, province, municipality and COROP area. Data available from 1965 to 2021 according to 2022 regional breakdown In the StatLine archive you can find tables with the national monuments according to the regional classifications from 2015, see the link in paragraph 3. The older tables use a classification according to the type of monument in 11 categories, in which archaeological monuments are not included. This table uses a new classification by type of monument in 14 main categories, including now also archaeological monuments. Of the 14 main categories, 13 are currently in use. Status of figures: The figures in this table are final. Changes as of 14 June 2024: None, this table has been discontinued. When will there be new figures? The figures from 1965 to 2022 according to the municipal classification of 2023 will be available in a new table in the second quarter of 2023.
