Description

The Vegetationlayer is an instrument that contributes to a safe flow and the water quality of the Dutch rivers. The Vegetationlayer consists of overview maps and rules. Together they set the standard for vegetation, from the point of view of flood safety and water quality. The vegetation in the floodplains affects the permeability of the floodplains. Crushing of the vegetation can lead to impoundment and higher water levels under standard conditions. That is why the Vegetatielegger sets a standard for vegetation roughness in the catchment area of the Dutch rivers. The vegetation surfaces (planes) together with the hedges (line objects) and the trees (point objects) form the description of the maximum permitted vegetation in the floodplains. This tree shape (point objects) together with the Vegetation planes (polygons) and the Hedges (line objects) form the description of the vegetation in the floodplains. The last establishment of the data for the RWS vegetation layer was on 26-04-2024.
