Bridge Parks Sector Plan

Description

A bridge park means a parking facility that allows you to fall back by car or bicycle at a public transport stop. These parking facilities primarily target commuters that have a strong impact on urban traffic on a regular basis (daily journey) and within a specified period of time (morning and evening peak hours). The objective of the development of relay parks is to allow the commuter to leave his car or bicycle at the nearest park-relay to his home, then take regional public transport to the city (destination basin). This sectoral plan focuses primarily on parking facilities located at the stations of the Canton of Fribourg. The main objective of this plan is to provide the analytical elements necessary for cantonal planning for bridge parks, so as to have a comprehensive and coherent vision at the township level vis-à-vis the public transport operators and the owners concerned. The methodology developed to define rules for the sizing of bridge parks is based on a multi-criteria approach to analyse the current state of the supply of parking spaces and to estimate the potential customers of the various stations. The potential customer base was determined by estimating the number of inter-communal commuters residing in the watershed of the nearest station according to the time of journey by car. This estimate is based on the micro-censing and hectometric geodata of the 2014 population and household statistics of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
