Vahti Guide 2003/1 Internet Information Security Instructions for Government Information Management
Description
The State Information Administration’s Internet Information Security Guide covers Internet security extensively and its recommendations are suitable for use in various situations of use of the Internet. The guideline is targeted at central government, but it can also be used in other sectors and business as appropriate. The main target group of the guide is those in the organisation’s information management and information security tasks. The Central Government Information Security Management Team (VAHTI) has been responsible for preparing the guidelines. The guide replaces the previous recommendation of the Ministry of Finance on the use of the Internet and information security (VAHTI 1/1998).
The guide helps in the steering, planning, monitoring, self-implementation of Internet usage and the secure implementation of services offered on the Internet, as well as in related procurements. The guide focuses on the key issues of the Internet network and its information security. The main content of the guide is the actual information security guidelines for the use of the Internet, the description of the Internet network and its infrastructure, as well as the appendices supplementing these chapters.
