Exploration-relevant sandstones of the Valanginium in Lower Saxony 1: 500000 – Total power
Description
The overview map shows the distribution of the Valanginium (low chalk) in the Lower Saxony Basin and in particular depicts exploration-relevant sandstones and their properties. Regionally connected sandstones with a thickness of at least five metres are referred to here as relevant for exploration. For these units, a potential as geothermal usable aquifers can be assumed, but this must be demonstrated on a site-by-site basis. Tonstones, siltstones, clay-silky sandstones and low-powered sandstones are shown on the overview map. Porosity, permeability and transmissivity of lithologies have not been taken into account in mapping, but, where available, are specified as drilling-related parameters.
