Springs and Fountains of Andalusia. Project "Know Your Sources"
Description
"Know Your Fountains" is a project of cataloguing and valorization of the springs and fountains of Andalusia, which is part of a broader program, called "Andalusian springs and fountains: towards a conservation strategy", carried out by the Junta de Andalucía.
It is a pioneering project in Spain of citizen participation, its website www.conocetusfuentes.com is open to anyone who wants to collaborate in the realization of the aforementioned catalog, incorporating those springs and sources, in addition its policy is the free and free dissemination of its contents. The initiative goes beyond simple inventory since its ultimate goal is the conservation of water through its appreciation and knowledge.
The project was presented in November 2007, by the then Ministry of Environment of the Junta de Andalucía and the University of Granada. At the moment, the project is carried out with its own financing from the Water Institute of the University of Granada, and technical support from the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME), the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia (IECA) and the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC).
