Description
Integrated mapping and zoning of the distribution of endangered steppe birds in Andalusia (version 2021). The species covered are common bustard ('Otis tarda'), common sison ('Tetrax tetrax'), Iberian ganga ('Pterocles alchata'), ortega ganga ('Pterocles orientalis'), ricotí lark ('Chersophilus duponti') and ash harrier ('Circus pygargus'). Final zoning mapping is included, both in polygons of presence and 1x1 km grids, as well as the zoning for each of the species contemplated.
The source of information is the censuses and/or sampling of the respective species included in the Steppe Bird Recovery and Conservation Plan (Agreement of 18 January 2011 of the Governing Council approving the Recovery and Conservation Plans for certain wild species and protected habitats). In addition to the records, the Ministry's 1x1 km grid has been used for the geographical representation of the data and urban blocks of the Andalusian Spatial Reference Data (DERA). The current version of the cartography includes census and/or sampling data up to the year 2020.
The cartography is based on the development of a Weighted Abundance Index as the first approximation relative to the current value of the territory for the conservation of steppe birds in Andalusia. This index (Abundance-Year) facilitates the establishment of a ranking that allows a comparative analysis of the importance of some areas with respect to others as habitats for endangered steppe birds in the Autonomous Community.

Data restricted to general citizenship. Accessible to technicians from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development (CAGPDS) and the Andalusian Environment and Water Agency (AMAYA).
