The residual thickness of the Lower Jura (Lias) in the duck beak
Description
The maximum thickness of the Lias (base Lower Jura to Middle Jura base or to prominent discordances in the top such as Upper Jura base and Upper Cretaceous base) is about 1 200 m and is reached in the southwest in a sink around the salt diapire Clara. Low-powered areas sometimes clearly trace the outcrop limits, suggesting a flat leakage of the layers. Often, the lias is discordantly cut in the slope by the units of the Malm (Upper Jura).
