Description
The Basic Block Map (BBK) is a geodata base (basic map) specially developed for Dresden, which maps the small and coarse-scale division of the urban area of the state capital Dresden into so-called gross/net blocks. Starting from road edges of the road node network 1:5000 (SKN5), boundaries and selected waters (Elbe and standing waters larger than 10000 m2) as well as dividing lines (e.g. border of a railway area), the individual blocks are formed according to administrative, statistical and settlement-structural aspects.
A net block is an area resulting from the gross block by subtracting the road surfaces (block residues). Residual block surfaces are road surfaces that are created on the basis of buffered and intersected road edges and serve to derive the net blocks from the gross blocks.
