Description
The (non-contiguous) area consists of ten dams, spread across Zeeland (other parts of the Delta Works are located in South Holland). These dams form the backbone of the Delta Works. This water-static project, one of the most important from the 20th century, aims to protect a large part of the Netherlands from flooding. The Delta Works represent a milestone in the theme of ‘water management’ which is so characteristic of the Netherlands.
