Product Copernicus Forest — Density Change (every 3 years since 2012)
Description
The product “Forest density change” allows to visualise the spatial and temporal dynamics of treed spaces. The treed surfaces are defined here as crowns of trees seen from the sky. The change in forest density is expressed as a percentage increase (+ 30 % to + 100 %) or decrease (-30 % to -100 %) in forest density per pixel of 100 m x 100 m. A 30 % threshold is applied to differentiate the “noise” from the actual change and thus not overestimate the loss or gains in tree cover. Pixels with a density change of between — 30 % and + 30 % will be considered as unchanged. The product “Forest density change” is provided by the “Territory” service of the European Earth Observation Programme Copernicus in raster format, and available since 2012 (2012-2015).
