Energy scenarios in view of the 2030 and 2050 climate targets
Description
As a basis for the discussion of national climate policy, the Federal Environment Agency has created a forced scenario for energy economic development and greenhouse gas emissions up to 2050 (WAM plus). This provides an overall analysis with a consistent storyline up to the year 2050. In addition, developments were modelled for each sector, which, in addition to a higher use of renewable energy sources and significantly increased energy efficiency, also require structural changes. Central to this are a fixation of the energy transition as a socio-political goal and changes in lifestyle and consumer behavior. The results show that measures taken after 2020 with regard to energy and climate targets for 2030 and 2050 will lead to a turnaround in energy consumption, even with steady economic growth.
