Description
The aerial map of the canton of Zurich describes the individual stocks (areas with uniform stocking) and their stock characteristics: Development levels, degree of mixing, main tree type, structure code, final degree, level of cover, coniferous wood content, tree species proportions. The aerial stock map forms the basis for company inventory maps, which is an important tool for the planning of operations in the forestry holdings. It is the result of photogrammetric interpretation of infrared aerial images, which were flown regionally from 2000 to 2013 on behalf of the Abt. Wald and from 2014 onwards on behalf of the canton in summer (certified state). From 2018 onwards, the regions that are subjected to inventory (sampling) in the following year will be interpreted. Since the aerial stock maps cover the entire Zürcher forest in contrast to the company’s stock maps and are eliminated according to uniform considerations, they are better suited for evaluations.
