Description
The present groundwater-dependent land ecosystems are for the 3. Management plan of the EU Water Framework Directive is valid.
According to Annex V WFD, a prerequisite for achieving good chemical and good quantitative status of a groundwater body is to avoid significant damage to land ecosystems directly dependent on this groundwater body. The inventory of Brandenburg’s groundwater-dependent land ecosystems was carried out according to LAWA Arbeitshilfe (LAWA 2013) and recommendation for action (LAWA 2012) and in accordance with the two previous management plans. The partial or complete groundwater dependency was checked on the basis of the groundwater levels. The data is based on ecosystem and protected area data as well as groundwater flux levels and soil data.
