According to Annex V of the WFD, a prerequisite for achieving a good chemical and good quantitative status of a body of groundwater is to avoid significant damage to the terrestrial ecosystems directly dependent on that body of groundwater. The inventory of the land ecosystems dependent on land in Brandenburg was carried out in accordance with LAWA Arbeitshilfe (LAWA 2013) and the recommendation for action (LAWA 2012) and in line with the two previous management plans. The partial or complete groundwater dependence was checked on the basis of groundwater levels. The data are based on ecosystem and protected area data as well as groundwater fluctuations and soil data.
