Soil build-up lakes Ijsselmeergebied

Description

Global description of the soil structure from 5m -NAP. This soil description is based on more than 7000 drillings carried out in the past deccenia. Per 1 m thickness, the boreholes have been translated into an area-covering grid (250m x 250m) using Voronoi interpolation and it has been determined which soil type is most common per depth interval (e.g. 5-10m -NAP). The different depth intervals are shown in the table. The dominant soil type is indicated per depth interval (sand, clay, peat, loam, boulder clay, gyttja, zavel or unknown or other). Where sieve values were known, the soil type sand was distinguished between fine, medium-coarse and coarse sand (for layers deeper than 15m -NAP). Detailed information about the soil structure can be obtained from the Measurement and Information Service of RWS IJsselmeergebied. The calculations were carried out by bureau Explostat, Almere.
