Health expenditure

Description

Public health expenditure - incurred both by the Health Authority and directly by the Province for the Provincial Health Service - in 2015 totalled 1,261,360 million euros. Current expenditure accounts for 96.90% and investment expenditure (in real estate, movable property and biomedical equipment) for the remaining 3.10%. Current health expenditure is quantifiable in 2015 at 1,222,281 million euros and consists of 97.65% of the expenditure of the Health Authority. It consists mainly of expenditure on staff (49.19%) and expenditure on health services (24.22%). Other expenditure components are purchases of goods (13.87%), non-health services (7.23%) and others (5.49%). Health expenditure for investments in 2015 amounted to 39.079 million euros, 94.79% of which was borne by the Health Authority and the remaining part directly by the Province. Current per capita health expenditure in 2015 amounted to 2,300 euros, a slight increase (+1.51%) compared to the previous year (2,265 euros in constant euros).
