Meadow bird protection programme scenery (Lower Saxony Way)
Description
The areas depicted represent the main occurrences of the target species of the Meadow Bird Conservation Programme (Pearcock, Kiebitz, Brachvogel, Rotschenkel, Bekassine, Oystercatcher, Brown Throat and Quail King) on agricultural land. Against the background of the umbrella species function of the selected species, they form the priority backdrop for the implementation of the Meadow Bird Conservation Programme within the framework of the Lower Saxony Way. On the one hand, the important EU bird protection areas (EU SPAs) for the selected meadow bird species and on the other hand, areas outside the EU SPAs with still significant breeding occurrences are depicted. This is not a complete distribution map, as not all occurrences of all target species are covered. Breeding occurrences on areas outside agricultural use (moors, heaths, salt marshes, military training areas) are not shown here. The land use was identified on the basis of the data from ATKIS-DLM (2017) as well as on the basis of the agricultural field blocks (SLA, 2021).The presentation differentiates according to colonization by the target species (breeding occurrences of limicoles - breeding occurrences of brown robins - occurrences of limicoles and brown robins). The most important breeding sites in the country of the target species Quail King are covered and are not presented separately.
