The deceased; major causes of death (short list), age, gender
Description
This table contains figures of deceased residents of the Netherlands by major underlying causes of death (Beldo list), age (at the time of death) and gender.
In the statistical year 2013, CBS switched to the use of international software for automatic coding of causes of death. This makes the figures more reproducible and internationally comparable. However, there are some major shifts in the causes of death.

Status of the figures
The figures until 2021 are final.
Amendments as of 20 December 2022
The final figures for 2021 have been added.
Amendments as of 23 June 2022:
— The preliminary figures for 2021 have been added.
— Average population figures have been adjusted for the years 2019 and 2020, so that the calculation method is equal to that of the years for 2019.
Amendments as of 18 August 2021
‘COVID-19’ has been added to the causes of death with reference to 2020.
When will there be new figures?
The aim is to publish the preliminary figures for 2022 in the second quarter of 2023.
