Livestock manure; production, transport and use; key figures, 1950-2013
Description
The table contains figures on the production of livestock manure and the nitrogen and phosphate minerals present in the manure. Figures are also included on the part of the excreted nitrogen that volatilises in the form of ammonia and other nitrogen compounds. The use of nitrogen and phosphate on farms is derived from manure production and the difference between the supply and disposal of manure on farms. The use is related to the available placement space. Developments in the production and use of livestock manure can be compared with some key figures on the size of livestock and the area of arable land and grassland.

Status of the figures:
— All figures up to and including 2012 are final.
— The figures for 2013 are provisional. As this table has been discontinued, the data will no longer be finalised.
