Scenarios for the development of electric mobility in Austria up to 2020 and preview 2030
Description
Since 1990, road transport performance and thus the increase in greenhouse gas emissions have been increasing – a development that is in clear contrast to environmental policy objectives. The introduction of electromobility is to be regarded as the most promising technological development for reducing the energy use of fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions from motorised individual transport. In this report, an estimation of the fleet of electric vehicles up to 2020 is carried out on the basis of various scenarios. In one, the fleet is growing to 174,000 vehicles, which corresponds to a share of just under 3.4% of the total Austrian fleet. The share of new registrations can rise to about 18% by then. This would mean a saving of 660,000 tons of CO2 emissions from electromobility.
