Description
The information contained in this dataset is a raster with the fine-scale Bathymetric Position Index (BPI) of the seabed of the study area, at 15 m resolution.
The area comprising the data provided covers the area of Volcanes de Fango del Golfo de Cádiz (LIC ESZZ12002), between latitude coordinates 36o35,98’N and 35o50,54’N, and longitude 006o51,65’W and 007o27,79’W.
To this end, the data generated in the LIFE+ INDEMARES project (INDEMARES CHICA1011 and 0412 oceanographic campaigns) have been reprocessed with new software, techniques and algorithms, integrating with others from projects executed by the Marine Geosciences Group of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography such as: ISUNEPCA (ISUNEPCA0616, 0618 and 0619), INPULSE (INPULSE0719) and Member States (CIRCASUR2020). This integration and subsequent processing and analysis of the data has substantially improved the quality of the background data (year 2014), since it has allowed to improve the spatial continuity and the resolution of the deep field of the SCI (> 800 m depth) until obtaining a homogeneous resolution throughout the SCI (15 m).
This set of information (BPI end) is calculated based on the original bathymetry.
The resulting geographic information is stored in a spatial database.
The reprocessing works have been financed thanks to the LIFE IP INTEMARES Project (LIFE-IP INTEMARES - Integrated, Innovative and Participatory Management for N2000 network in the Marine Environment - LIFE15 IPE/ES/000012). This integrated project has the challenge of laying the foundations to effectively manage the marine areas of the Natura 2000 Network and complete the work and progress promoted within the framework of the LIFE + INDEMARES project, which managed to take a great step in terms of declaring new areas.
