Modelled air temperature and temperature sum in Turku

Description

The datasets are raster map layers produced using a linear regression model. Both map layers have been produced in the Turku area. In addition to Turku, some areas of neighbouring municipalities are represented. The regression model of the dataset containing the modelled temperature (Turku_medium lamb patient...) has been calibrated in the Turku region so that the variable to be explained has been the air temperature measured by the TURCLIM observation network (https://sites.utu.fi/turclim/), while the variable to be explained in the heat sum dataset (Turku_lamposumma...) has been the number of setts exceeding the 25-degree limit. The variables related to water areas, relative height and urban land use have been used as explanatory variables, some of which are available on the Avoindata.fi platform as their own datasets. In the modelling of each situation, the most appropriate zone size of the explanatory variable has been used, which has been defined on a variable-by-variety basis on the basis of correlation analysis and subjective consideration based on the theoretical background of the topic. The temperature data has a resolution of 100 m and the temperature sum data has a resolution of 250 m. The temperature data covers land areas, while the temperature sum data covers land and water areas. The data was produced as part of the HERCULES project/consortium funded by the Academy of Finland's Climate Change and Health (CLIHE) research programme in 2020-2023.
