Description
The soil regions (BR) are landscape genetic or structural geologically determined and morphologically recognizable spatial units with similar climatic conditions. Knowledge of the defining regionally effective characteristics makes it possible to use them both in the mapping and in the assignment of characteristic characteristics and properties. The soil regions are thus tools for systematic soil mapping, description of soil forms and quality assurance.
In Lower Saxony, the soil regions of the coastal Holocene, the supra-regional river landscapes, the Geest, the mountain foothills, the mountainous region and the low mountain range are distinguished.
