Underground Water Quality Indicators: Identification of marine intrusion into groundwater (2021)
Description
Marine intrusion is a common phenomenon that occurs in some coastal groundwater bodies, especially in the case of overexploited aquifers, and which can affect water quality. This indicator has only been analysed for groundwater. The change values will be defined by those identified in the following table, according to the concentration of chlorides.
In this analysis, all analyses of chloride substances available in the monitoring programmes (monitoring and operational control programme) of groundwater intended to assess the status, in compliance with state and European regulations, of which information is available in NABIA (System of Exchange of Information on the Status and Quality of Waters) have been considered.
