This table provides data on the income and capital of self-employed persons by industry. These are people for whom self-employment is the main source of income. A distinction is made by type of self-employed person and economic activity. The data is broken down by various levels of detail of the Standard Business Classification (SBI).
Reference date of target population and assets is 1 January of the reporting year. For the older years 2007 to 2010, the reference date of capital is 1 January of the year following the research year.
All figures in this table are at person level, including capabilities; (business) assets are determined by household, and are assigned to all persons in the household as a measure of prosperity. Reference date of target population and assets is 1 January of the reporting year. The General Business Register (ABR) is used to determine the SBI of self-employed persons. The ABR suffered several trend breaks in the period 2007-2011. This leads to a sharp decrease in the number of self-employed in financial services (K) in 2010. Therefore, caution should be taken when comparing the figures to SBI.
