REDIAM. WMS HIC 1180 Underwater structures caused by gaseous emissions
Description
WMS service corresponding to the Habitat of complex underwater structures formed by aggregation of sand grains by carbonated cements that originate from microbial oxidation in gas emissions. Among the marine structures fundamentally distinguish columns, blocks and pavements, which are located in depressions of the seabed with up to 45 m of depth of soft substrate. Among the gases that promote the formation of these structures, methane stands out. The fauna associated with these structures is very specific and varied (anthozoans, hydrozoans, gastropods, ophiuroids, etc.), but completely different from that of the substrates surrounding these structures.
