Description
A water point is a natural (source) or artificial (drilling, draining, well...) access to groundwater.
Each water point has a national code. This is the code of the water point file within the Banque du Sous-Sol (BSS). It consists of the concatenation of the index BSS (10 characters) and the designation BSS (6 characters) separated by a character "/". This last information still applies.
The national code can be supplemented, for information purposes, so-called 'local' codes, namely, the internal code of the water point at the manager, at the owner of the water point ...
Each water point is located by its geographical coordinates as part of a projection system and attached to the municipality in whose territory it is located. The allocation of the municipality, altitude , the geographical coordinates at the water point is under the responsibility of the regional geological services of the BRGM as part of its management mission of the BSS.
Information on water points is the responsibility of the managers of the different functions of the water point.
