Asylum applications; nationality, since 1975
Description
This table contains figures per year on the number of asylum applications (procedures and persons) and travellers (following family members) submitted by nationality.
In addition to the total number of requests, the first and subsequent requests are included. As this distinction could not be made before 2007, the total number of applications and the number of first applications for the years before 2007 were equal. From the years before 2013 it is not yet known to what extent they are survivors (following family members).
No separate data are available for some countries before 1994. The numbers for these countries are included in the total count. In all cases, these are small numbers. As of 2016, the first requests include relocation.

Status of the figures:
The figures until 2022 are final.
The figures for 2023 are provisional.
Changes as of January 2024:
Provisional figures for 2023 have been added.
When will there be new figures?
The new figures will be released in February 2025.
