Birth and Birth: 1989-2013
Description
This table contains data on the following topics:
* Home births and hospital births.
* The height and weight of children at birth
* Getting breast-feeding
* Maternity care
* Consultative office
The data comes from the Health Survey. The questions about the place of childbirth and maternity care have been asked to women aged 16 to 50, who have given birth to one or more children in the two years preceding the survey. Information on children aged 0 to 5 years has been collected about their height and weight at birth and whether they have been to the consultation office. Information on breast-feeding has been collected about children from half to 5 years of age.
Data available from 1989/1991 for maternity care and consultation agency figures are available from 2001/2003

When will there be new figures?
No longer applicable.
Because the health survey no longer asks about breastfeeding, the table has been discontinued. In 2017, a new table on birth characteristics and visit agency was published.
