Description
The Federal Environment Agency operates seven air quality monitoring centres where background pollution, long-distance shipments of air pollutants and trends in air quality are recorded. The report shows the results of the measurements in 2012 and the development of the last 20 years. The legally defined limit values for particulate matter (PM10), NO2, NOx, SO2 and CO were complied with at all measuring points. The target value for ozone for the protection of vegetation was exceeded in Illmitz, Pillersdorf and Vorhegg, the target value for the protection of human health in Illmitz, Pillersdorf, Vorhegg and Zöbelboden. The information threshold was exceeded in Illmitz and Pillersdorf. In a long-term comparison, 2012 showed a below-average load for all pollutants at the background measuring points, especially for PM10.
