3D model North Sea - Quaternary sub-model - Pleistocene base - Depth - 50 m intervals (WMS service)

Description

Due to different exploration possibilities, different input data were available for 3D modelling for the onshore areas (from the 10 m water depth line to the mainland) and offshore areas (from the 10 m water depth line). For the offshore area, due to the limited number of deep and dated wells, geophysical data was primarily used as the data basis for the 3D model. In the onshore area, well-supported, cross-linked geological profile sections were used to generate the areas. The area of the quaternary base shows some deviations from the previous map of the depth of the quaternary base by Brückner-Röhling et al. (2005) on. The deviations range from +100 m to -400 m. The lower position of the new quaternary base area increases the thickness of the quaternary sediments to over 1,200 m in the NW part, depending on the velocity model used for the time/depth conversion of the seismics. For the base area of the Pleistocene deposits, depth maps (in m below NN) as well as width maps (in m) were created at 10 m and 50 m intervals.
