WISE WFD groundwater body horizons reported under Water Framework Directive 2022 - PUBLIC VERSION - version 1.1, Jul. 2024
Description
This dataset contains information on the European groundwater body horizons delineated for the 3rd River Basin Management Plans (RBMP) under the Water Framework Directive (WFD). The information was reported to the European Commission under the Water Framework Directive (WFD) reporting obligations. The dataset compiles the available spatial data related to the 3rd RBMPs due in 2022 (hereafter WFD2022). See http://rod.eionet.europa.eu/obligations/780 for further information on the WFD2022 reporting.
According to the WFD reporting guidance, the spatial delineation of each groundwater body horizon must be reported if, and only if, a groundwater body has different horizons. Please refer to Annex 4 in the WFD Reporting Guidance for further information on the spatial delineation of groundwater horizons. The horizon element identifies each of the horizons of a groundwater body, using a simple integer numeration (in the sense of the numerical position of the groundwater body starting with the first horizon from the surface). If the groundwater body belong to a single horizon, then the information in this dataset and corresponding service matches that of the WFD2022_GroundWaterBody_WM service.
Note:
* This dataset has been reported by the member states. The subsequent QC revealed some problems caused by self-intersections elements. Data can be processed using QGIS.
