Companies with innovations; key figures
Description
This table provides an overview of the number of Dutch companies that carry out technological innovation projects (whether or not successful) or have completed them. These companies are called technological innovators. The technological innovators with already completed innovations distinguish between companies with product innovations and companies with process innovations. The table also provides information on the number of companies that have collaborated with one or more partners in developing technological innovations.
This table deals only with technological innovations. Non-technological innovations are not considered. However, the definition of technological innovation is subject to change and not the same for all reporting periods. Until 2014-2016, organisational innovations and marketing innovations were requested separately and were subsequently classified as non-technological. As of the 2016-2018 reporting period, these innovations are covered by process innovations and are therefore classified as technological.
The data are the results of a biennial innovation survey. Each survey covers three years, e.g. 2016 to 2018 (this is the reporting period). The last year in a survey is equal to the first year in the next survey. This means that the periods overlap in part.
