The data set contains the forest areas (1 ha) and individual objects with a special genetic conservation function, renaturation areas, forest seed harvesting stocks as well as forest for research and teaching (1 ha) in the Free State of Saxony. Restoration areas are areas that are to be returned to forest use after extraction of mineral resources or other denaturation. The task of the forest here is to renaturate this location. Genetic conservation objects (individuals, groups, stocks) are used to preserve the biodiversity of trees and shrubs as well as genetic diversity within tree and shrub species. They preserve biodiversity at species and population level and form the basis for further conservation and support measures. Features for the designation of gene conservation objects are among other autochthony or adapted to the location, adaptability, representativeness as well as rarity and degree of risk. Forest crops and seed plantations are the starting material for the production of forest reproductive material. Harvest stocks are forest stocks that are authorised under Section 4 of the Forest Propagation Goods Act (FoVG) for the extraction of forest reproductive material.
These are forest stocks, with a demarcated population of trees, of a sufficiently uniform composition, which can also consist of neighbouring subpopulations. Forest areas for research and teaching serve to a particular extent forest research and teaching as well as forest testing. The data is used for the forest function map 1:25,000 of Saxony.
