Description
The Thuringian State Archives were merged into departments of the Thüringer Landesarchvis, which acts as a service provider for the Thuringian administration, for Thuringian authorities and courts, as well as for citizens, science and research.
The functional responsibility of the state archives is directed along administrative boundaries of the districts and independent cities. In addition to the subordinate institutions of the cities of Erfurt and Weimar, the Main State Archive Weimar is also responsible for the central state authorities. The handling of public archives in Thuringia is regulated by the Thuringian Archives Act (ThürArchivG).
