Reporting Water Framework Directive 2010: GIS files of protected areas by WFD basin

Description

On reading Articles 6, 7 and Annexes IV and VII (A.3. and A 4.3.) of the WFD, the protected zones concern: - bodies of water used for the abstraction of water intended for human consumption supplying more than 10 m3/d or serving more than 50 persons, as well as those intended in the future for such use; - areas designated for the protection of economically important aquatic species; - bodies of water designated as recreational water including bodies of water designated as bathing water under Directive 76/160/EEC; - nutrient sensitive areas, including areas designated as vulnerable under the Nitrates Directive (91/676/EEC) and areas designated as sensitive under Directive 91/571/EEC; - areas designated as areas for the protection of habitats and species and where the maintenance or improvement of water status is an important factor in such protection, including relevant Natura 2000 sites under Directive 92/43/EEC and Directive 79/409/EEC.
