Ammonia measurements in outdoor air in Austria.
Description
Ammonia is a nitrogen compound with various effects on humans and the environment. It comes mainly from agriculture. For Austria, data on the level and distribution of concentrations in the air have so far been scarce. In cooperation with the offices of the provincial governments and the BMK, the measurement in 20 areas at 75 measuring points was started in April 2021. The report summarises the results up to June 2022 and compares them with values from other countries. The highest concentrations were observed in Burgenland and Styria. Medium concentrations occurred in Carinthia, Upper Austria, Lower Austria and Tyrol. The lowest concentrations can be seen at regional background measuring points.
