Description
This table shows how many insurance companies operate in the Netherlands.
Only the exempt mutual societies and branches of foreign non-life insurers are not included in our statistics.
As of 2003, the savings banks are counted as ordinary life insurers because of their small importance.

When are new figures coming?
No longer applicable.
In the context of the strategic cooperation between CBS and DNB, a new division of tasks has been agreed. Insurance companies and pension funds are explicitly covered by DNB’s area of activity. The publication of tables by CBS with regard to Insurers and Pension Funds is therefore discontinued. More information can be found via the link in paragraph 3.
