Institutional investors; investments abroad 1980-2017
Description
This table describes the investments of institutional investors abroad. These are regularly in the spotlight because of the relationship with the Dutch economy. For example, proposals have been made to use a greater share of pension assets to support the Dutch economy, for example by taking over mortgages from banks or investing in infrastructure.
In addition to the size, the table describes the composition of foreign investments from 1980 onwards. For example, it can be found that the increase in the foreign investment of institutional investors consists mainly of foreign shares and long-term debt securities.
Data available from 1980 to 2017, quarterly figures from 2005 to 2017.
Status of the figures
The figures until 2015 are final, the figures from 2016 are provisional. As this table has been discontinued, the data will no longer be definitive.

When are new figures coming?

In the context of the strategic cooperation between CBS and DNB, a new division of tasks has been agreed. Institutional investors are explicitly covered by DNB’s area of activity. The publication of tables by CBS with regard to institutional investors is therefore discontinued. DNB delivers results on institutional investors to the OECD.
