Directory of the Auchenorrhyncha of the Gesäuse National Park including georeferencing of historical and recent records

Description

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to record the species of cicadas proven in the Gesäuse National Park, including georeferencing of the sites. Present records of cicadas found in the area of the Gesäuse National Park have been reviewed and documented. As part of an open field survey, the Zikadenfauna of the Haindlkar was investigated. Abstract (English, publication in German): Prior objective of the bachelor thesis was the preparation of a list of Auchenorrhyn-cha species occurring in the National Park Gesäuse, which is located in Styria, in the area of the Northern Limestone Alps. So ancient and recent discovery records have been verified and summarised. Results of recent collecting on localities of the day of biodiversity 2013 are also given. The list includes the name of the species in Latin and German, the first collector(s), year and location of the first record, geographical coordinates and an assessment of the conservation status in consideration of the Austrian Red List of Auchenorrhyncha (HOLZINGER, 2009A). Until September 2013 altogether 190 different Auchenorrhyncha species could be detected in the area of the National Park. That is some less than half of the species which were recorded for Styria. They distribute across nine out of fourteen Auchenor-rhyncha families occurring in Austria. The most species-rich are the Cicadellidae with 137 species, followed by the Delphacidae with 31 species. So representatives from Aphrophoridae, Cercopidae, Cicadidae, Cixiidae, Issidae, Membracidae and Tettigometridae can be found in the Styrian National Park. 24 species are recorded for the first time for the Gesäuse, one species, Wagneriala incisa (THEN, 1897) is published for the first time for Styria.
