Description
Hospital medical statistics are based on an annual survey of hospitalisations in all hospitals and clinics in Switzerland. The survey covers in particular the diagnoses and treatments of each patient. The data, in order to be processed, are coded using two medical classifications: ICD-10-GM for diagnostics and CHOP for treatments. The coding of diagnoses and treatments follows specific guidelines. The field of medical coding and medical classifications of the OFS drafts, revises and adapts these guidelines as necessary, takes care of the maintenance of classifications and supports the persons responsible for coding. The 2022 version of the alphabetical index of ICD-10-GM 2022 is based on the French version of the systematic index of ICD-10-GM 2022, as well as on a list of enrichments. ICD-10-GM 2022 has been in force in Switzerland since 1 January 2022.
