Levies on energy carriers 1993-2015
Description
This table shows the charges on different energy carriers by reference date. The reference date is the date of introduction or modification of a tax.
The tax amounts presented shall apply per prescribed measurement or trading unit. For some energy carriers, the charge per user is bound to a maximum. Energy suppliers collect the charges from their customers and pay them to the Ministry of Finance. The amounts of tax in the table are exclusive of VAT. However, the tax paid by the consumer is inclusive of VAT.
The data presented, except for the MAP surcharge, are derived from the Official Gazette. It publishes legislative amendments and decisions or decisions concerning charges on energy carriers. The relevant laws are the Excise Tax Act, the Environmental Basis Tax Act, the Petroleum Products Stockpiling Act 2001 and their predecessors.
