Environmental Ordinance, Nature Network Brabant - ecological connection zone
Description
Ecological connection zones are areas or structures that allow connection, migration and exchange of species between nature reserves. They are mostly elongated wet and / or dry landscape elements along dikes, watercourses, roads, railways and waterways. The Environmental Ordinance includes search areas for ecological connection zones. The Nature Network-Brabant-evz file indicatively indicates the route that the connection between nature reserve should follow and therefore has the nature of a search area. The designation of the evz itself takes place by the municipality in an environmental plan.
Until the evz is actually realized, a strip (buffer) must be included in the environmental plan in accordance with the Environmental Regulation with rules to prevent that the realization of an evz is made more difficult. After realization and the inclusion of a suitable nature destination in the environmental plan, the landscape elements that make up the evz will be included in the Nature Network Brabant in accordance with the nature destination. When a certain route is fully completed, the indicative strip Nature Network Brabant-ecological connection zone will expire.
