Dresden is a tree-rich city with a great biodiversity. Avenues and valuable trees in the parks, green areas and gardens characterize the cityscape. Trees contribute significantly to the quality of life, because they have a positive influence on the urban climate
There are currently around 98,700 registered trees on urban areas. These include street trees, trees in parks and green spaces, on playgrounds, on open spaces of educational institutions, on waters 2. Order and other municipal areas.
In addition to the strongly represented typical tree species such as linden, maple and chestnut, ginkgo, magnolia, leather husk tree and other rarer tree species grow in over 139 species and varieties in the urban area.
